IHS BRE Press have just released an updated series of BRE Expert Collections. These collections pull together BRE’s extensive range of publications including Digests, Good Building Guides, Good Repair Guides and Information Papers into collections relevant to practitioners today.
‘Air quality, radon and airtightness: A collection of BRE expert guidance on the design and construction of new and existing buildings’ looks at the wealth of knowledge relating to how building fabric and structure can impact on the health and wellbeing of occupants.
The section on air quality covers everything from controlling particles, vapour and noise pollution from construction sites, maintaining good air quality in your home, ventilation measurement and VOC emissions from building products. BRE air quality expert Stuart Upton investigates air quality and ventilation rates in different types of buildings and also how outdoor air pollution affects indoor environments.
The Radon collection looks at how to deal with the threat of radon in new and existing homes and buildings. BRE expert Chris Scivyer is working with Public Health England and a variety of international bodies to ensure this extensive knowledge is being used to inform policy and practice both in the UK and internationally.
With increasingly stringent requirements on air tightness, the collection pulls together everything from the underlying principles of air tightness to implementing natural or mechanical ventilation in buildings whist achieving air tightness. BRE expert Ben Cheeseman is applying BRE’s research and methodologies to large and complex projects to inform the design and build processes to ensure airtightness.
BRE has been publishing industry expert guidance and advice for over 90 years and many of the underlying principles are still relevant today. The updated expert series pull together the publications that are still relevant for industry today.
