Data Centre World is one of the largest gatherings of professionals from all sectors of the global data centre industry. From March 21st to 22nd, professionals will congregate at the Excel Centre in London to network, share knowledge and expertise on building and running ever more efficient, reliable and powerful data centres.
With our ever increasing reliance on the web, the internet of things and cloud services, data centres now form the backbone of our modern lives- but at what cost to the environment? Millions of servers consume vast amounts of electricity to power our lives, and drink huge reserves of water to stay cool. By some estimates, the annual global carbon emissions of data centres worldwide exceed even aviation emissions, and are set to grow.
To help to mitigate & manage the environmental impacts of data centre buildings, BREEAM developed a set of building specific criteria that data centres can be assessed against to demonstrate their environmental and sustainability credentials.
BREEAM is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for buildings. Through third party certification, BREEAM recognises and reflects a building’s environmental, social and economic sustainability performance. The BREEAM Data Centres scheme was released in 2010. In a fast moving industry, BREEAM is now looking to update its criteria for current and future data centres all around the globe.
BREEAM will be attending Data Centres World to release an industry survey to kick start the development of this updated criteria.
All professionals in the data centres industry are invited to engage with BREEAM at the Data Centres World conference, and take part in our survey!
This survey opens on Tues 20th March, and closes on Mon 30th April.
You can find us at Data Centre World on stand D47, and in the Energy Efficiency, Cost Management and DCIM Theatre, Thursday 22nd March 15.15-15.40.
We look forward to seeing you at Data Centre’s World, follow our Twitter page for updates from the conference @BRE_BREEAM
